About
Affichen-Schriften gathers several distinct revival typefaces sourced from historical specimens by foundries including W. Thorowgood, E. Haenel and E. Tarbé & Cie, spanning the period 1821 to c. 1850. The constituent members include antiques, egyptiennes and wide fat-face cuts, each reflecting the formal vocabulary that emerged on continental European bills and posters as English poster types crossed the Channel. The accompanying research essay by Pané-Farré traces the largely undocumented dissemination of poster types through German-speaking printing industries up to around 1860.
