Maxisud
Formagari · Emmanuel Besse · 2026

A narrow geometric sans derived from Futura Maxi, offered in a standard cut and an inktrap variant across nine weights plus a variable font.
About
Drawn by Emmanuel Besse with spacing and kerning by Igino Marini, Maxisud reinterprets the Futura Maxi found in Photo-Lettering's One Line Manual of Styles, pushing the x-height higher and aligning its semi-condensed geometry closer to Avant-Garde Gothic Condensed and the classic poster cut Futura Condensed ExtraBold. The inktrap variant repurposes a traditionally functional feature as a visual device, adding texture and rhythm at smaller sizes while retaining crispness at display scale. Nine weights run from Thin to Black in both families, with a variable font covering weight and optical size axes.
Classification
Maxisud is a narrow geometric sans directly descended from Futura Maxi, sharing characteristics with Avant-Garde Gothic Condensed and Futura Condensed ExtraBold, with a higher x-height and semi-condensed proportions.
