Bowery Lane specimen from Fort Foundry

A 12-style transitional serif with swash alternates for both roman and italic cuts, drawing on Scotch Modern and slab traditions.

About

Designed by Amy Hood, it sits somewhere between Scotch Modern, transitional and slab serif conventions, with moderate contrast that keeps it readable at smaller sizes. Swash style sets are available for both the italic and roman styles, offering a rounder, more whimsical character than the old-money restraint of a Caslon. The family spans six weights from Thin to Black, each with a matching italic.

Classification

The foundry describes it as sitting between a Scotch Modern, Transitional and Slab serif, with moderate contrast and swash alternates for both roman and italic styles, which places it squarely in the transitional serif tradition with eclectic influences.
