Evert Latin
Foundry Five · Kostas Bartsokas · 2024

A 48-style grotesque by Kostas Bartsokas, drawing on Miller and Richard's Grotesque No.1, Antique Olive and FF Balance across three optical sizes and a variable axis.
About
Released in 2024 and awarded a TDC Certificate of Typographic Excellence in 2025, this family spans three optical sizes — Text, standard and Display — each available in eight weights with matching italics and a variable font. The design blends the structural rigidity of early Victorian grotesques with the humanistic warmth associated with Excoffon and Bloemsma, resulting in a voice that sits between editorial and expressive work. Latin coverage extends to 328 languages, with Greek support and OpenType features including old-style numerals, tabular figures and discretionary ligatures.
Classification
The foundry traces Evert's lineage to Miller and Richard's Grotesque No.1, Roger Excoffon's Antique Olive and Evert Bloemsma's FF Balance, placing it firmly in the humanist grotesque tradition with contemporary and experimental inflections.
