Developed as a variation of Frere-Jones's Niagara, Citadel pursues rigidity and aggression over delicacy, taking cues from German display designs with their squared, muscular forms. The Inline cut emerged from Frere-Jones's earlier work with Neville Brody on FF Tokyo, applying a decorative inline treatment to a potent structural foundation. Two styles, Book Solid and Book Inline, cover Latin-extended script across more than thirty languages.
