Niagara specimen from Frere-Jones

A geometric display family by Tobias Frere-Jones that revives the Machine Age luxury aesthetic of pre-war America, offered in solid and engraved variants across three weights.

About

Drawing on a pre-war American genre that used geometry as a marker of luxury rather than precision, Niagara comes in five styles spanning Thin, Light and Regular weights, each available in Solid and Engraved cuts. The engraved effect lends an airy, inline quality that Frere-Jones links to the mist and romance of Niagara Falls. Small caps are drawn to match the lowercase height, enabling a stylised biform setting that plays into the family's inherent modularity.

Classification

A geometric all-caps display type in the Machine Age luxury tradition, with modular construction and an engraved variant; the tall, narrow letterforms and decorative inline effect place it firmly in the display category.
