sans-serifhumanist sansitalic
Chevin Std specimen from G-Type

A rounded humanist sans in six weights, designed for legibility at small sizes and signage, best known as Royal Mail's corporate typeface since 2007.

About

Chevin Std is the stripped-back variant of Chevin Pro, covering West European, Central and East European, Baltic and Turkish Latin scripts without the Greek, Cyrillic or small caps features of its larger sibling. Its open counters and slightly condensed proportions make it practical for both continuous text and wayfinding environments. Erik Spiekermann has noted its legibility in small sizes, attributing it to the typeface's restrained shapes and simple construction.

Classification

Chevin Std is a rounded, slightly condensed humanist sans-serif with open counters and restrained letterforms designed for legibility at text and signage sizes. Its functional construction and warm proportions place it firmly in the humanist sans tradition.
