Maurizio specimen from Gallery Type

A superhigh-contrast display serif by Daniel Perraudin and Nina Botthof, built from just two hand-drawn extremes — Hairline and Black — with everything between interpolated across a variable axis.

About

Designed for large sizes where its razor-sharp serifs, open lobes on the 'g' and twisted dots on 'i' and 'j' become fully legible, the family spans nine weights in both Roman and Italic. The Italic, contributed by Nina Botthof, introduces exaggerated end strokes in the lowercase that produce a distinctive rhythmic texture while remaining faithful to the rigid Roman skeleton. Both static and variable font versions are available, the latter covering the full weight range with matching italics.

Classification

A superhigh-contrast display serif with razor-sharp serifs and extreme weight range from Hairline to Black; explicitly designed for large sizes only, placing it firmly in the display category rather than general-purpose text serif.
