On a mission to create the world's biggest index of typefaces from the world's best type foundries

displaygeometric display
Soya specimen from Good Type Foundry

A semi-geometric modular display face with exaggerated ink traps that give characters the appearance of pulling apart at the joints.

About

Released in 2019, GTF Soya uses a modular construction with deliberately oversized ink traps to create the optical illusion that letterforms are slipping away from themselves. The family spans five weights and includes alternate numerals alongside broad European language support through 172 accent glyphs. The effect is best used at large sizes where the ink trap drama reads clearly.

Classification

Described as semi-geometric and modular with exaggerated ink traps that create a visual splitting effect; the expressive, stylised construction places it firmly in the display category rather than a functional geometric sans.
