Diplomata draws on the visual language of nineteenth-century commercial engraving, with intricate inline strokes and elaborate serifs that demand large point sizes to be fully appreciated. It is a one-trick typeface, but the trick is executed with considerable panache, making it effective for period-inspired posters, certificates, and luxury packaging. Any use at body size or in sustained text is entirely impractical.
