Noto Sans Adlam provides one of the few high-quality digital typefaces for the Adlam script, supporting literacy and digital access for Fulani speakers.

About

The Adlam script was created in the 1980s and formally encoded in Unicode, making quality digital type for it a relatively recent priority. This family fills a critical gap for communities across Guinea, Mali, Nigeria, and surrounding regions who use Adlam for everyday writing. Its four weights and clean construction make it functional for both screen reading and document typesetting in Fulani-language contexts.

Classification

A Unicode-compliant sans-serif supporting the Adlam script used by the Fulani people of West Africa, alongside Latin. The letterforms are designed to reflect the relatively recent, codified nature of the Adlam script.
