Noto Sans Pau Cin Hau specimen from Google Fonts

A specialised Noto sans-serif providing digital support for Pau Cin Hau, a rare indigenous script from the Chin Hills of Myanmar.

About

Pau Cin Hau was developed around 1894–98 by Pau Cin Hau, a spiritual and community leader, and exists in two forms — a logographic and a later alphabetic version, both encoded in Unicode. Noto Sans Pau Cin Hau ensures the script can be rendered correctly on modern devices, serving a critical role in the digital preservation of a minority writing system with limited font support elsewhere. It is most relevant to linguists, cultural preservation bodies, and communities within the Chin ethnic group working to document and revitalise this script.

Classification

Covers the Pau Cin Hau script, an indigenous writing system created in the late 19th century by a religious leader among the Tedim Chin people of Myanmar. The Noto treatment is minimal and functional, encoding the script's distinctive angular letterforms accurately.
