Shojumaru specimen from Google Fonts

A dramatically stylised display typeface with sharp, angular forms evoking horror aesthetics and Japanese woodblock printing traditions.

About

Shojumaru takes a highly theatrical approach to letterform design, with pointed terminals and distorted proportions that give it an unmistakable, if narrow, personality. It is suited almost exclusively to atmospheric or themed headline and poster work — horror, occult, retro, or pop-culture contexts where its extreme character is an asset. Outside of those niches it has little practical application.

Classification

Shojumaru is a novelty display typeface with a highly stylised, horror or Japanese woodblock-influenced aesthetic, featuring dramatic pointed terminals and angular distortion. It is strictly a one-trick display face with very limited typographic utility beyond themed or atmospheric headline use.
