displaypsychedelic unicase
Libido specimen from Herzberg Design

A variable unicase display typeface drawing from 1960s psychedelic poster lettering, offering 56 static styles across smooth and ragged cuts with width and optical size axes.

About

Inspired by the rectangular letterforms of Wes Wilson's 1960s psychedelic concert posters, each glyph is built on a rectangular grid with minimal cutouts defining the letter shapes. A variable width axis and optical sizing axis allow lines to be set at equal widths with consistent internal spacing, solving the central practical challenge of the genre. The ragged cut strips all curves for a distinct angular variant that loses the psychedelic associations of the smooth style and opens the family to different applications.

Classification

A display typeface in the tradition of 1960s psychedelic poster lettering, with rectangular letterforms, variable width and optical sizing axes, and a distinct unicase construction that places it firmly in the display genre.
