Wanchy specimen from Herzberg Design

A reverse-contrast display typeface with heavy horizontal strokes and an Art Nouveau-inflected psychedelic character, available as a variable font with an optical sizing axis.

About

Wanchy uses a pronounced reverse (horizontal) contrast, with thick tops and bottoms and thin vertical stems, producing a psychedelic effect that draws on Art Nouveau without directly imitating period revivals. It ships as a variable font with an optical sizing axis, alongside five fixed presets, allowing use across a range of display sizes whilst keeping thin stroke widths consistent. The glyph set includes Latin Plus language support, discretionary ligatures, contextual alternates and 52 code-activated dingbats including arrows, flowers and emojis.

Classification

A display typeface with heavy horizontal (reverse) contrast and Art Nouveau influence, producing a psychedelic character without directly imitating 1960s–70s typefaces. Its unconventional letterforms and thick horizontal strokes place it firmly in the display category.
