Publica
Hipertipo · 2007

A variable grotesque family originating as a 2007 fork of Liberation Sans, with axes for weight, width, contrast and slant giving extensive stylistic range.
About
Publica grew from a 2007 fork of the open-source Liberation Sans into an independent grotesque family with five variation axes: weight, width, contrast, slant and spacing. The contrast axis allows modulation of stroke weight within a grotesque structure, while italic-style forms are produced via the slant axis combined with optional OpenType cursive features for alternates including a, g, l and y. The result is a single variable family capable of spanning neutral text settings through to more expressive display usage.
Classification
Publica is a grotesque sans-serif with multiple variation axes including weight, width, contrast and slant, developed from a fork of Liberation Sans with its own distinct evolution over time.
