Ideal Sans specimen from Hoefler & Co

A humanist sans drawn over two decades, embracing the warmth and quiet irregularity of handmade letters across eight weights with italics.

About

A humanist sans by Jonathan Hoefler, Tobias Frere-Jones and the H&Co studio, developed over more than twenty years. It rejects the rigidity of geometric sans-serifs in favour of an honest, slightly imperfect drawing where calligraphic memory survives in the curves and joins. Eight weights from Thin to Black with matching italics make it a flexible text and identity face for brand systems, magazines and interfaces that want sans clarity with a human voice.

Classification

A humanist sans drawn over more than twenty years that embraces the irregularities of handmade letters, set as an honest, slightly imperfect counterpoint to geometric sans-serifs.
