Surveyor specimen from Hoefler & Co

A serif system inspired by engraved map lettering, offered in three optical sizes with smart swashes and small caps across the family.

About

A serif family by H&Co built on the engraved lettering of nineteenth-century maps, originally drawn for Martha Stewart Living and later expanded into a full system. Surveyor runs across multiple weights, with each style available in three optical sizes (Fine for the smallest cover work, Text for body copy and Display for headlines), and a ScreenSmart cut for screen rendering. Roman and italic small caps, tabular figures, fractions and an OpenType-driven smart swash feature support recipes, calendars, step-by-step layouts, maps and editorial features that want compact proportions, delicate serifs and a sinewy italic.

Classification

H&Co describe Surveyor as a celebration of nineteenth-century engraved map lettering, with compact proportions, delicate serifs and a sinewy italic. Each style is offered in three optical sizes (Fine, Text and Display) to handle a wide range of sizes.
