Ipar specimen from Hungarumlaut

A mathematically constructed geometric sans in two widths and seven weights, inspired by Austrian street signage and Bauhaus geometry.

About

Designed by Adam Katyi between 2019 and 2021 and released in May 2023, Ipar takes uniform stem widths throughout with no optical corrections, producing a rigidly consistent, grid-like texture across the family. Austrian road and city signage, particularly the style encountered in Schladming, provided the starting point, while Bauhaus and Constructivist principles shaped the letterforms into clean geometric units. Alternate characters with rounded counter shapes are available via stylistic sets, offering some relief from the typeface's otherwise strict geometry.

Classification

Ipar is constructed on strictly mathematical principles with uniform stem widths and no optical corrections, placing it firmly in the geometric sans tradition. Its references to Bauhaus and Constructivism, alongside Austrian signage, reinforce this classification.
