Supergravity specimen from Hungarumlaut

A tightly condensed display face drawn from early 20th-century Hungarian poster lettering, with three upright and slanted cuts designed for close-set titling.

About

Originally commissioned for Adam Albert's 2018 exhibition and accompanying book, it takes letter shapes from old Hungarian posters and rebuilds them as a cohesive family. The letters are sharply condensed with moderate contrast; diagonal characters such as A and W carry angled rather than horizontal terminals. Descenders are kept extremely short for tight leading, and the 19-degree slant of the oblique cuts references the exhibition's May Day 1919 theme.

Classification

A heavily condensed display face with moderate stroke contrast and distinctive angled terminals, drawn from early 20th-century Hungarian poster lettering rather than any conventional text tradition.
