Hurme FIN 1a Extra Wide specimen from Hurme Design

The extra-wide cut of Hurme FIN 1a, a monolinear grotesque spanning eight weights with obliques, part of a nine-width, eight-weight system totalling 144 styles.

About

Hurme FIN 1a Extra Wide sits at the broad end of a large sans-serif family that runs from Compressed to Expanded across nine width variants. The design is strictly monolinear with horizontal stroke terminals, short ascenders and descenders, and optically adjusted obliques rather than true italics. OpenType features include small caps, stylistic sets, oldstyle figures, tabular lining figures and a slashed zero; purchasing this family also includes the corresponding weights of FIN 1b, an alternative cut with angular, monospace-inspired characters and slab serifs.

Classification

A simplified monolinear sans-serif with horizontal stroke terminals and an optically adjusted oblique, placing it squarely in the grotesque tradition without humanist or geometric inflection.
