sans-serifhumanist sansitalic
Portheras specimen from Identity Letters

A fairly wide humanist sans with a relaxed disposition, named after a Cornish beach and built around British design tradition with an informal edge.

About

Sixteen styles span Thin to Black with matching italics that fall somewhere between oblique and true italic, giving the family a character that is approachable without being casual in a careless way. Each style carries 780 glyphs covering small caps, multiple figure sets including old-style figures at mid-cap height, three stylistic sets and an extensive arrow collection. The low x-height and slightly wider stance set it apart from more utilitarian humanist sans designs.

Classification

Identity Letters explicitly describe Portheras as a humanist sans; its low x-height, informal character and italics that sit between oblique and true italic confirm that classification.
