II Vorkurs specimen from Increments

A modular geometric sans dedicated to Josef Albers, built from a disciplined set of rectilinear block forms across three weights and six styles.

About

Designed by Increments and released in September 2020, II Vorkurs takes its cue from Bauhaus pedagogy, specifically the Vorkurs preliminary course associated with Josef Albers, using a restrained palette of modular shapes to construct each letterform. Three weights — Light, Medium and Bold — each come with an oblique companion, and the family supports 88 languages across an extended Latin character set. Squared stylistic alternates push the geometric logic further for display and editorial applications.

Classification

A strictly modular, construction-based geometric sans built from a limited set of rectilinear forms, placing it squarely in the geometric sans tradition with Bauhaus ideological grounding.
