IvyJournal specimen from Ivy Foundry

A contemporary workhorse serif by Jan Maack, drawing on Bembo, Baskerville and Times New Roman for use in books, magazines and office contexts.

About

Designed by Jan Maack, IvyJournal began as part of the IvyStyle type system before developing into a standalone family. The design applies principles of Roman inscriptional capitals and classic metal types to produce a versatile text serif across five weights with matching italics. Its range and opentype feature set, including old-style numerals, discretionary ligatures and fractions, make it a practical alternative to the more heavily used text faces it references.

Classification

Draws on Roman inscriptional capitals and metal type traditions including Bembo, Baskerville and Times New Roman, placing it squarely in the transitional serif lineage adapted for contemporary text use.
