Designed by Jan Maack, IvyMode grew from a companion piece to IvyJournal into a fully independent family. Pronounced stroke contrast, subtly flared stroke endings, slightly angled stress and extenders cut on the bias give it a pressed, precise quality suited to fashion editorial and luxury branding. The OpenType feature set is notably generous, with stylistic sets, dozens of uppercase and lowercase discretionary ligatures, and both lining and old-style figures across ten styles plus two variable fonts.
Classification
IvyMode is a sans-serif with pronounced stroke contrast, subtly flared terminals that hint at serifs, and slightly angled stress — placing it firmly in the high-contrast or flared sans tradition rather than a conventional grotesque or humanist classification.
