A Dutch Old Face revival drawn from 17th-century specimens held at the Museum Plantin-Moretus, tracing letterforms attributed to Nicolaes Briot and Christoffel van Dijck.

About

Jan Maack of Ivy Foundry worked from a 1695 folio sheet, Proef van Letteren, printed by the widow of Dirck Voskens, to reconstruct the letterforms that also informed William Caslon's Great Primer Roman. The family splits into Display and Text optical sizes, each running five weights from Thin to Bold with matching italics, plus two variable fonts covering both weight and optical size axes. A thorough OpenType feature set includes small capitals, old-style figures, discretionary ligatures and fractions.

Classification

Explicitly described as a Dutch Old Face serif, revived from 17th-century historical specimens attributed to Nicolaes Briot and Christoffel van Dijck; sits between old style and transitional in character.
