On a mission to create the world's biggest index of typefaces from the world's best type foundries

Transducer specimen from JTD Type

A squarish sans-serif drawn from the aesthetic of analogue electronics, with subtly tapered vertical stems and a high x-height designed for interface and diagram legibility.

About

Spanning three widths and five weights with obliques throughout, Transducer takes the geometric sans conventions of electronics labelling and introduces deliberate imperfections: vertical strokes taper almost imperceptibly towards their centres, recalling the hand-soldered character of vintage equipment. The high x-height maximises counter space for quick reading at small sizes, and alternate characters for Y, r and t give extra flexibility in tight settings. A rich symbol set drawn to capital height makes it well suited to UI work, and the family has seen use by McLaren Racing, Major League Baseball and others.

Classification

A squarish, high x-height sans-serif drawing on the modernist geometric tradition of electronics-industry typefaces such as Microgramma, but with deliberate humanist departures including subtly tapered vertical strokes and differentiated letterforms.
