JL Limpet Granite
Jung-Lee Type Foundry · Jungmyung Lee · 2019

A Plantin-derived text serif by Jungmyung Lee that tempers its old-style structure with exaggerated cursive strokes and abrupt diagonal cuts across eight weights.
About
Rooted in the generous letterwidths and sturdy stroke construction of Plantin, JL Limpet Granite introduces a distinct contemporary character through sharply cut terminals on letters such as K, M, V, W and the double-storey g. The eight-weight range from Thin to Black gives it range across editorial and book settings, while the atypical cutting angles prevent it from reading as a straight revival. A companion italic subfamily, JL Limpet Intertidal, is sold separately.
Classification
Reinterpreted from Plantin, a 16th-century old-style serif, retaining robust stroke structure and generous letter widths while introducing contemporary cursive inflections and abrupt cuts.
