JL Limpet Intertidal specimen from Jung-Lee Type Foundry

An italicised companion to JL Limpet Granite, designed by Jungmyung Lee, with loosely defined axes and irregular letter widths drawn from the practice of cross-writing.

About

Conceived as a pair to JL Limpet Granite, this face takes its conceptual cue from cross-writing, the historical practice of writing sideways across an already-written page. Characters such as C, e, g, r, s, v, w and y carry unconventional widths that introduce textural friction at the letter level, yet the overall rhythm reads as fluid and coherent. Eight weights from Thin to Black allow it to function both as a textural companion in body settings and as a standalone display voice.

Classification

An italicised companion to JL Limpet Granite, Intertidal is conceived as a condensed, handwriting-inflected italic with unconventional directional axes and irregular letter widths, placing it in display-oriented territory despite its text-capable weight range.
