JAF Bernini Sans
Just Another Foundry · Tim Ahrens & Shoko Mugikura · 2012

A large type system by Tim Ahrens and Shoko Mugikura, split into a neutral text-oriented sub-family and a more informal companion with alternate letterforms, each spanning four widths and five weights.
About
JAF Bernini Sans comprises two distinct sub-families: JAF Bernino Sans, with finely balanced weight distribution and open shapes for text and display work, and JAF Bernina Sans, a friendlier variant featuring round dots and a double-storey g. Each sub-family runs across four widths — Regular, Narrow, Condensed and Compressed — and five weights from Light to Extrabold, all with italics, giving designers eighty styles in total. The system won TDC and Communication Arts awards in 2012 and has been used in campaigns including Highland Spring.
Classification
A humanist sans with open apertures and balanced weight distribution suited to text; the informal Bernina Sans sub-family with round dots and double-storey g reinforces its humanist leanings.
