Charlottenburg
Kilotype · William Montrose · 2022

An all-caps, high-contrast display serif by William Montrose, drawing on Roman inscriptional proportions and Art Nouveau flourishes across four distinct subfamilies.
About
Charlottenburg is built for large-scale headlines, with sharp serifs, extreme stroke contrast and letter proportions referencing Trajan-era stonecutting. Four variants extend its range: Classic for titling, Compressed for ultra-narrow headlines, Circles for mixed-width settings, and Choices for manual glyph-width switching via keystroke. Released as a concept font, it is free to license for individuals and organisations below €100k annual revenue, with further development including a lowercase and extended language support planned.
Classification
An all-caps, razor-sharp high contrast serif with exaggerated serifs and Art Nouveau inflections, designed purely for display and titling use at large sizes. The extreme contrast and period proportions place it firmly in the display category.
