Lofi Forest specimen from Kilotype

A large-scale pixel typeface by Selma Losch built from individually placed pixels to evoke chiselled stone inscriptions, available in two layerable styles for polychrome effects.

About

Rather than mimicking screen constraints, Lofi Forest scales the pixel aesthetic up to monumental proportions, each letter constructed from hundreds of discrete pixels that produce sharp lines and soft gradients simultaneously. The Pixel and Solid styles can be used independently or layered in contrasting colours for polychrome display work. Classical letter proportions sit on a coarse grid, producing something that reads simultaneously as ancient inscription and contemporary graphic experiment. Won the German Design Award in 2026 and received a TDC Certificate of Typographic Excellence in 2025.

Classification

A large-scale pixel typeface with two layerable styles (Pixel and Solid), built from individually placed pixels to evoke inscribed stone and polychrome effects rather than screen utility.
