Otomauk specimen from Kilotype

A display typeface by Selma Losch that translates the eroded weight of stone into vector outlines, producing organic forms that grow increasingly ornate at heavier weights.

About

Designed by Selma Losch and published in 2022, Otomauk takes as its starting point the question of how stone's mass can be conveyed through digital curves rather than surface texture or literal material illustration. Five weights from Regular to Heavy shift the character from relatively plain to dense and patterned, giving the family range across editorial headers and identity work. Released as a Concept Font, it remains a work in progress, with Kilotype offering free commercial licensing to individuals and companies below €100k annual revenue in exchange for real-world feedback.

Classification

Otomauk is a display typeface designed to evoke the weight and texture of stone without literal material detail; its organic, rounded forms and ornate patterning in heavier weights place it firmly in expressive display territory.
