Epicene Display
Klim Type Foundry · Kris Sowersby · 2021

A Baroque display serif drawn from Rosart and Fleischmann, with sharp details that read with vigour at large sizes.
About
A Baroque display serif by Kris Sowersby that draws on the 18th century punches of J-F. Rosart and J.M. Fleischmann, with exaggerated details engineered to add vigour at headline sizes. Five weights from Light to Black sit alongside ten italic styles, and Epicene Display partners with Epicene Text in the wider system. It suits editorial mastheads, fashion covers and cultural posters where a sharp, characterful serif is wanted without falling into Didone chill.
Classification
Klim classifies it as Baroque Old-Style; inspired by 18th century punchcutters J-F. Rosart and J.M. Fleischmann, with exaggerated details for vigour at large sizes; Klim also frames the project around the idea that typefaces have no gender.
