Financier Display specimen from Klim Type Foundry

A British-feeling display serif drawn for the 2014 Financial Times redesign, with Perpetua's stately charm in the Gill lineage.

About

A transitional display serif by Kris Sowersby, drawn for the 2014 Financial Times redesign and released publicly in 2016. The aesthetic comes from Eric Gill's classic letterforms, with Financier Display taking Perpetua's stately charm and the italics reconciling mechanical sloped romans with traditional calligraphic forms at a narrow, slight incline. Six weights from Light to Black across twelve styles plus a variable roman and italic axis cover news mastheads, features and arts pages with a frugal, staccato grace.

Classification

Klim classifies it as Modern: Transitional Serif; drawn for the 2014 Financial Times redesign, with the display cut taking Perpetua's stately charm from Eric Gill's lineage.
