Martina Plantijn
Klim Type Foundry · Kris Sowersby · 2023

A reworked Plantin tuned for present-day editorial work, with five weights of roman and italic and decisive digital corrections.
About
An old-style serif by Kris Sowersby that returns to Frank Hinman Pierpont's Plantin and the 16th century material Pierpont studied at the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp. Five weights run from Light to Black, each with a paired italic, and the drawing makes decisive digital updates rather than a faithful revival. Reads warm at body size and steady at display, so it sits naturally in books, magazines and editorial brands that want Plantin's character without its rougher legacy artefacts.
Classification
Klim classifies it as Serif Oldstyle; a better Plantin, informed by Frank Hinman Pierpont's typeface and Pierpont's research of 16th century type at the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp, with decisive digital updates across roman and italic.
