Metric specimen from Klim Type Foundry

A geometric humanist sans drawn from West Berlin street signs, monoline and rational but warmed by optical corrections.

About

A geometric humanist sans by Kris Sowersby, drawn from lettering on West Berlin street signs and softened with typographic optical correction. Seven weights run from Thin to Black, each with an italic, giving it the range to handle signage, interface text and editorial setting. Designed alongside Calibre as a sibling system: the two share a fundamental geometry but diverge in how key letterforms finish, so Metric reads slightly more engineered while Calibre stays a touch more humanist.

Classification

Klim classifies it as Modern: Lineal/Geometric/Humanist; a geometric humanist sans inspired by lettering on West Berlin street signs, with monoline construction tempered by typographic optical correction; designed alongside Calibre and sharing its fundamental geometry.
