KH Shutter
Kurppa Hosk Type · Thomas Kurppa, Jakob Ekelund, Wille Larsson · 2018

An uppercase-only geometric display typeface with fixed-width spacing and structural borrowings from the Hebrew alphabet, originating from an unused identity proposal for Fotografiska New York.
About
Designed by Thomas Kurppa, Jakob Ekelund and Wille Larsson between 2018 and 2022, KH Shutter applies the 45-degree angles and geometric construction typical of Kurppa's work to letter forms influenced by Hebrew alphabet characteristics. Originally conceived for a photography exhibition identity, the proposal was set aside but the typeface was developed into a three-weight family. Despite its expressive headline nature, it carries an extensive character set including accented Latin, currency symbols, arrows and mathematical notation.
Classification
An uppercase-only monospaced display typeface built on geometric construction and 45-degree angles, drawing structural cues from the Hebrew alphabet. Its expressive headline character and fixed-width construction place it firmly in the display category.
