About
Built on a shared geometric skeleton, BHV pairs a monolinear grotesque in five weights with a serif in text and display cuts, both covering Latin Extended-A across 215 languages. The unfixed x-height is the family's defining quirk: lowercase and uppercase settings produce markedly different typographic textures, making the typeface behave almost like a pattern element at larger sizes. Decorative ligatures, stylistic alternates and oldstyle figures across both subfamilies give designers further control over how much of that strangeness to let through.
Classification
BHV's grid-based skeleton with an unfixed x-height and pattern-like stroke rhythm places it firmly in the display category. The grotesque subfamily is monolinear and explicitly unconventional, while the serif subfamily spans text and display optical sizes.
