Cosmica Mono specimen from Labor and Wait

A monospaced adaptation of Labor and Wait's Cosmica, spanning nine weights with italics and revised proportions tuned for fixed-width environments.

About

Derived from the proportional Cosmica, this fixed-width family was built through a trial-and-error spacing process settled at 780 em units, with capitals shortened 8% and ascenders 5% relative to its parent. The design avoids many classic typewriter tropes, with only a handful of characters noticeably altered for monospace legibility, and includes alternate schoolbook forms of 'a' and 'y', an eyeglass 'g', and half-width punctuation variants. Nine weights from Thin to Heavy each carry a matching italic, giving the family considerable range for both screen and print applications.

Classification

Cosmica Mono is a fixed-width typeface derived from the proportional sans Cosmica, with every character set to the same body width. It retains the sans-serif character of its parent while adapting proportions for monospace use.
