A hybrid italic-script with calligraphic flair, notable for its readability at small sizes and an unusually deep set of swash and alternate characters.
About
Combining the flow of a connected script with the structured discipline of an italic, Gioviale offers better legibility at small sizes than most scripts in its class. The family comes in two weights, Regular and Bold, and is furnished with 300 swashes, 20 ornaments, 20 discretionary ligatures, alternate swash capitals and 16 stylistic sets. Latin Extended language support covers over two dozen European languages.
Classification
Gioviale is explicitly described as a hybrid of italic and script, combining the fluidity of a connected script with the structured underpinnings of an italic, placing it firmly in the script category with an italic-script subcategory.
