A Greek-only serif family of five weights whose design personality shifts markedly from the classical slab-influenced Thin through to a high-contrast display Black.
About
Athenaia is built around the idea that a typeface's character can shift substantially across its weight range rather than simply scaling up. The Regular offers moderate contrast suited to long-form editorial text, the Thin draws on 1930s–40s slab serif conventions with a contemporary inflection, and the Black leans into high contrast for titling, packaging and branding. The family supports Greek script only, with OpenType features including cap spacing, case-sensitive forms, arrows and ornamental hands.
Classification
Athenaia is a Greek-script serif with shifting personalities across weights: the Regular is a moderate-contrast text face, the Thin adopts a classical slab-serif feel, and the Black moves toward high-contrast display. The dominant design logic sits closest to transitional serif territory.
