serifquirky serifitalic
Baldufa specimen from Letterjuice

A multi-script serif spanning Latin, Arabic, Cyrillic and Greek, distinguished by rounded serifs, ink traps and a deliberately imperfect character drawn from old printing methods.

About

Rounded serifs, irregular vertical stems and extremely thin junctions give Baldufa a warmth and quirkiness that sets it apart from conventional text serifs. The italic drops the serifs entirely for greater expressivity, while Arabic Naskh softens traditional calligraphic contrast and adds rounded terminals to match the Latin's overall texture. Multiple Granshan, TDC and Morisawa awards recognise the quality of the multi-script design, which was built specifically for cultural catalogues and publications requiring harmonious cross-script setting.

Classification

Baldufa is a serif with rounded serifs, irregular vertical stems and ink traps drawn from old printing idiosyncrasies; its deliberately imperfect, humanist character places it outside clean transitional or old-style categories.
