Blåkulla specimen from Letters from Sweden

A single-style all-caps stencil display face by My Longley, its letterforms assembled from the curtain patterns observed in the blue-façaded residential blocks of Hagalund, Stockholm.

About

Designed by My Longley as her degree work at Konstfack, the typeface distils arc segments and serif shapes directly from the varied curtain arrangements seen in Hagalund's rectangular windows. The result is a stencil display face where each letter carries an architectural logic, the open and closed curtain sections producing a formal system that feels both found and invented. A single weight covers a broad Latin character set including extended European accents, making it practically usable despite its highly particular origin.

Classification

An all-caps, single-style stencil display face with letterforms derived from architectural observation; the construction method and decorative intent place it firmly in the display category.
