Ivar Fine specimen from Letters from Sweden

The highest-contrast optical size in Göran Söderström's Ivar family, built for large-scale headlines where sharpness and elegance take precedence over text legibility.

About

Ivar Fine sits above Ivar Display in contrast, pushing the family's already high modulation further to suit very large point sizes. The design draws on the sturdy mid-twentieth-century text faces in the Times tradition, which themselves reach back to sixteenth and seventeenth-century models. Five weights with matching italics cover the range from restrained Light to assertive Black, all sharing the distinctive terminal shapes that tie the wider Ivar family together.

Classification

A high-contrast optical size variant within the Ivar family, designed for large headline use with Times-influenced construction and strong modulation between thick and thin strokes.
