Line specimen from Letters from Sweden

A super-thin display typeface designed for Swedish fashion magazine Rodeo, combining gestural handwriting influences with modular embellishments built from kerning pairs.

About

Originally commissioned for the Swedish fashion and culture magazine Rodeo in 2012, Line was designed by Stefania Malmsten and Göran Söderström and released commercially in 2013. It comes in five ultra-thin styles intended for use individually or via a formula that keeps stroke weight consistent across point sizes. The family includes alternate letters and a large set of modular decorative elements that attach to characters through kerning pairs, drawing inspiration from beauty, handwriting, graffiti tags and scribble.

Classification

Line is a super-thin display face inspired by handwriting, graffiti tags and scribble, with modular embellishments and alternate letters that give it a distinctly gestural, decorative character placing it firmly in the display script category.
