Mikro specimen from Letters from Sweden

A geometric sans by Ramiro Oblitas and Göran Söderström, commissioned by Design Sweden and rooted in Futura's long presence in Swedish graphic culture.

About

Designed as a counterpart to Letters from Sweden's grotesque Trim, Mikro draws on the geometric tradition associated with Futura, which the foundry describe as fundamental to Swedish visual identity. Originally commissioned by Design Sweden to represent both established and contemporary styles, it covers Latin and Cyrillic scripts across three weights with matching italics. A companion display subfamily, Mikro Super, was subsequently released for tight headline use.

Classification

Mikro is explicitly described as a geometric sans, positioned as a companion to the grotesque Trim and drawing on Futura's influence in Swedish vernacular. The design steps outside a strict pixel grid, giving it a more free geometric character.
