A grotesque designed by Göran Söderström as the custom typeface DN Sans for Swedish daily newspaper Dagens Nyheter, now available commercially.
About
Originally commissioned as DN Sans for Dagens Nyheter, one of Sweden's oldest daily newspapers, the family launched in 2023 across print, web and app. Six weights with matching italics and a variable font are included, and five stylistic sets allow substitution of characters such as a, g, t, 6 and 9, along with a toggle between circular and square punctuation. A condensed variant is in production.
Classification
Scoop draws directly from the grotesque tradition, with a balanced structure informed by dependable newspaper grotesques and stylistic alternates for key characters typical of the genre.
