Tid specimen from Letters from Sweden

A text and display serif by Göran Söderström and Stefania Malmsten, first cut for a Laurie Anderson exhibition at Moderna Museet in Stockholm in 2023.

About

Designed by Göran Söderström and Stefania Malmsten as an interpretation of what they call The Best Typeface in the World, Tid is available in ten text styles and four display cuts. Serifs and tails are cut consistently either horizontally or vertically, weights are designed to occupy similar widths, and the italics closely mirror the romans. Extensive Latin character support and careful optical sizing make it suited to both editorial and institutional use.

Classification

Tid is a text and display serif with horizontally and vertically cut serifs, harmonious cap-to-lowercase balance, and mirrored italics — characteristics consistent with a refined transitional or classical serif tradition.
