Kaio specimen from Lift Type

A humanist sans in six weights with a separate display cut called Krilin, drawing on Gill Sans and Antique Olive with a Japanese cultural flavour.

About

Designed by Romain Oudin at Lift Type and released in 2023, the family runs from Light through Super across six weights, with a variable font included. The Krilin variant amplifies the character with rounder counter-forms and more extreme proportions suited to large-scale display use. OpenType features include stylistic sets, circled numerals, arrows and full fraction support, covering a broad range of Latin-extended languages.

Classification

Self-described as humanist-inspired, citing Gill Sans and Antique Olive as references. The Krilin display variant introduces rounder, more exaggerated counter-forms, pushing it toward display territory, but the primary family sits firmly in humanist sans.
